The Dentist Visit

I had taken the girls with me last July for their 1st dentist appointment. They just turned 3 and my dentist suggested bringing them in just to "take a look." Surprisingly they did wonderful, the hygienist was so patient and nice. She took the time explaining all the tools and what the purpose of each tool. She counted their teeth and cleaned them. The dentist said there teeth are coming in great and everything looks good so far. They left with shiny teeth and a new toothbrush. Hopefully it will be this easy again when we go back in July.

Mom's night out!

My new years resolution is to basically try to make more time for myself. Which I really can honestly say I have not done since the girls were born. I always feel guilty if I do something without them, but I realize it's good for them to see me leaving to do something for myself and not just being "mommy".
So I emailed a bunch of mom's and sent up a day for us to go bowling, I know exciting!! There were 5 of us were able to make it. So we went last Monday, again I know on a Monday night, exciting. Hey, baby steps! We had a great time, hanging out, having a few beers and just enjoying the time out.
Hopefully we are going to try and do this at least once a month. Whether it's bowling, dinner and a movie, or going to someones house. It's something, it's a start and it's fun!

Wordful Wednesday - Rock n Roll

When we were in Florida for Thanksgiving my cousins brought out their Rock Band game. I walked in the room and it looked fun! I immediately asked if they have BonJovi and anyone that knows me knows I am an absolute BonJovi freak!!!! Well of course they had "wanted dead or alive", that's perfect! I decided to do that song along with my cousin Jade, Kaylynn and of course my rocker in training, Chloe. This picture is hilarious to me, because granted I did have some wine that night. But I am having a blast rockin out and everyone else in the picture looks bored out of their minds. I don't care, it was fun and I'd do it again and yes I know I'm a big dork!!
Oh and look closely at my little rocker in training doing the rock n roll sign!! Gotta love it!

Happy New Year!

I've been out of the loop for a few weeks. The girls have been sick, then I got their sickness so it's been like a 3 week sickfest! I didn't feel like doing much of anything and plus with the holidays time just flew! We are all starting to feel better, finally! I have a ton of pictures to go through so hopefully sometime this week I'll get to post them.

I did want to post this conversation though, I though it was pretty funny.

The other day the girls were wearing their bucket hats .. and I said "oh you look so cute in your bucket hats."

Later on Shawn overheard this:

Kayla to Chloe: Can you put some water in this?
Chloe: It's a hat!
Kayla: It's a bucket hat.

So cute!

Family Cookbook

We recently visited my family in Florida for Thanksgiving. While there my Aunt said she needed to type all my Grandma's recipes. She's collected quit a few over the years. I offered to type them for her since she has so much other stuff going on, with taking care of my Grandma, working and everything else. So then we thought we could make a cookbook with all her recipes and give them to immediate family members. After even more discussion on the subject we thought we would do a family cookbook. Have everyone submit 5-10 tried and true recipes, along with a memory you have about eating that recipe or cooking it, a family story, or even a photo. This sounds like a great idea, alot of work if I go with adding photos and stuff, but it will be worth it. I hope I can get it done in a timely manner, like in less than a year!! Also for a reasonable price! My cousin, Jesse already submitted his "famous secret chili"...can't wait to try it and all the other ones to follow!!

Wordful Wednesday - A pedi for Dad!

Yesterday the girls found some of their nail polish and wanted to paint their nails. So I let them. Then they wanted to paint mine, no problem. They did my finger and toes, they did pretty good I might add, only getting a little paint on the skin. Well, they didn't want to stop there. They asked there dad if they could paint his nails too and he said no way. They said well how about just your toes. They were so convincing that he needed this done that he agreed, reluctantly! They were very serious about their task at hand (or foot) they made sure he had all three colors, pink, purple and glitter polish. Very cute. His toes look very pretty for a man. I'm sure before he had kids never, ever pictured himself getting his toenails painted by anyone! Well, the pictures below prove just how much dad will do for his little girls.
