PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

This is probably one of the last hot days of this summer. We decided to have "old fashioned" fun. So I got out the sprinkler...I never see kids running through sprinklers anymore it's always some high tech water gadget, pool or slide! The sprinkler proved to be just as fun!!!

I won an mp3 player!!

I've been doing some research on mp3 players lately. Mainly because Shawn is requesting one for his birthday and I've been wanting one for the gym. I didn't really want an Ipod. So I started looking into the Sandisk and Zune's. I discovered a website anythingbutipod.com and they had a contest to win an 8GB Sandisk Fuze w/ a 4gb sd card. All you had to do was add a comment and they would randomly draw the winner. Well, he drew my name. I'm so excited, 1st because I really don't win things and 2nd I only have to buy one!!!

The Barbie Jeep Rocks!

My friend gave us this jeep last summer since the girls were only 2 they really didn't get the concept of steering so we were constantly chasing them or steering them in the right direction. This year they have definintly improved their driving skills. I'm actually impressed that they attempt to steer away from things or people that cross their path. I guess with their new found confindence and their constant improvement, they decided they could make their barbie jeep a 3 seater. When I first saw this I was thinking what the heck are they doing someones going to wipe out. But then as I watched them I figured they had it under control. I actually get kind of jealous because I want to ride too!! How come they didn't have these cool toys when I was a kid. I thought it was cool to ride my bigwheel down our driveway, pull the brake and spin out!! That's nothing compared to the thrill of this thing. They cruise over curbs, spin tire, drive backwards, go up hills, even pick up a friend on the way!
One of these days I have to get a picture of all the kids in the cul-de-sac with all the battery operated vehicles...it looks like a mall parking lot!

Here are the girls with their friend Caitlin

Farm Days

Recently we went to one of the local farms near our house for Farm Days. Since I'm always trying to look for fun stuff for the girls to do I thought this would be a good idea. They took you on a hayride to parts of the farm where they would drop you off to pick your own veggies or fruit. The girls loved picking their own tomatoes, peppers, and peaches. We were talking to one of the girls who worked there and she said they decided to do this for the kids because surprisingly most kids think fruit and veggies come from the grocery store and have no idea about farming. I was a little shocked at that statement but I guess it could be true.

They also had the local fire department come, the kids were able to sit inside the trucks, wear the hats and hold the fire hoses.

The girls with my niece.

The girls had a lot of fun and hopefully now they know where fruit and veggies come from!!

Photo Contest - Summer Fun!!

This is my entry for the contest over at 5 minutes for mom . This was one of the funnest days we had this summer, just running thru a fountain!!

another back update

I was so excited to be on vacation last week. We had all these fun things planned to do with the girls. Monday, as the previous post listed we got to go to Idlewild. Tuesday morning my husband decides to move an entertainment center down to the game room. Once he gets it there, realizes it won't turn the bend into the room. So now he wants to bring it back upstairs to take it apart. At this point he's says he needs my help. I'm thinking what the heck can I do. So I'm at the bottom of the steps pushing this thing up the steps as he drags it. Shortly after that I start getting the same pain in my lower back, but I really didn't think too much of it. I take the girls to the grocery store, of course I have to put them both in the cart. No problem, so I thought. Once I got home I was pain. I decided to go lay down. I got up for some reason and I couldn't stand up straight and am getting shooting pains down my left leg. So I practically crawl back to bed. It's too late to call the doctors office. I call them Wednesday and the first appointment is Thursday. I go the doctors, he orders an MRI. Luckily I was able to get an appointment the same day.
Saturday I started feeling a little better, well put it this way I could walk in an upright position, instead of hunched over. And I wasn't wincing in pain every time I moved.
I got my results Monday. They said I have a bulging disc in my L5 S1, which from what I understand it's the lowest vertebrae in your back. It must be pressing on my left side that's why I have the pain in my leg. They are suggesting PT and traction! I really don't even know what this all means, but at least it's a start. My first pt appointment is Thursday, so hopefully I will get some more relief.

Photo Story Friday - Slip, sliddin' away!

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

Monday we took the girls to Idelwild Park and Soak Zone, it's a great park especially for little kids. We walked over to Soak Zone where there are waterslides, giant waterguns, a huge bucket that every few minutes tips over and drenches whoever is standing under it.

So we took the girls on the two big slides in the park that they could ride with us. The one you sit in a raft and go down a tube, that was actually pretty fast, Kayla said she didn't like it. The other one Kayla and I went on together, we had a double inner tube raft. She sat in the front and I just wrapped my feet around her chest, so she wouldn't fly out. We start off getting blasted with a waterfall, then the inside of the tunnel is pitch black ..the whole slide all the way to the bottom it's dark. I hear Kayla whimpering a little, but I just keep saying this is fun..hold on. She said she didn't like that one either!!
We were done riding, but I wanted to do more. It was just way too fun! I decide to go ride the Serpentine, by myself. The girls were getting tired anyway, so I figured perfect time for them to chill and mom can go play!

here I come on the last turn..woohoo!

give a little wave to the camera
as I make my entrance...

woah!! This is the moment when I got a gallon of water up my nose!! nice!

despite the water in the nose, it was a blast!!!

hand me downs...

I given tons and tons of clothes away in the past 3 years. Sometimes to goodwill or I'll sell some to a resale store. I've given tons to my sister. I also gave the other ton to my co-workers friends daughter. She's 21, just recently got married and they don't have alot of money. When I heard she was having a girl I asked Virginia (my friend)if she would want any clothes. She said they will take anything I can spare. So she came over one day last fall. I gave her 5 huge, I mean the giant garbage bags of clothes..ranging from 3months to 24months. I was a little sad knowing I would never see the clothes again, but happy because they would be getting used by someone that needs and wants them.
Anyway, Virginia told me she just went to her 1st birthday party. Virginia commented on the babies dress and the mom said this is a dress from Kim. She said they love all the clothes and the baby wears them all the time. That made me feel good that they are appreciated and are getting some use. Hopefully, she'll pass them on to someone else that will need them.
